Which Filing Moved a Tonne This Week?
Kaub printed 6 centimetres on Friday, nineteen under the 2018 record and three under the forecast we carried on Thursday. Everything else the industry filed in three days was a balance sheet: a bankrupt producer's meeting about nothing, a $350m bond, a $1.4bn tender.
We swept sixty US chemical filers for three days of filings this morning and found a dividend, a director resignation, and three pieces of financing.
Not one closure. Not one curtailment. Not one force majeure letter.
The only thing that took tonnes out of the market this week was a river, and nobody had to file anything for it.
Five items this run, all dated since Thursday's radar.
Six centimetres
Our own pull of the WSV series this morning has the Kaub daily minimum at 6 cm on Friday and 6 cm again through 11:15 CEST today, after 10 cm on Wednesday and Thursday and 15 cm on Monday.
Thursday's radar carried a reported forecast near 9 cm by Friday. Friday came in at six.
The station's own published record low is 25 cm, set on October 22, 2018. We are 19 centimetres under it, and the daily low has fallen 60 percent in five days (chart below).
