Who Buys Priolo's Propylene Now?
LyondellBasell's last polypropylene line at Brindisi stopped on Saturday morning, ten weeks before the deadline it was given in June. The resin side of that is easy to price. The side nobody is pricing is the propylene that used to sail up the coast from Priolo to feed it.
The PP2 unit at Brindisi stopped on the morning of Saturday, October 17.
The announcement did not come from LyondellBasell. It came from Antonio Frattini, general secretary of Filctem CGIL Puglia, who had been expecting it since June and said so: "Purtroppo, come avevamo temuto."
Unfortunately, as we had feared.
"When the last line on a site goes cold, which side of the fence loses more, the buyer of the resin or the seller of the feedstock?"
